The Twin Cities’ own Fraea are undoubtedly eagerly awaiting for the transition from spring to summer, with both seasons bearing new content from the group. Fraea begins this tradition with the release of their new single “Trouble”, now streaming via Bullett magazine. This single comes in the wake of their recent track “Criminal,” which can be streamed via SoundCloud here. The publication was also keen to offer their take on the record, stating “Fraea showcases the seamless duality of their sound” with their impending release.
Fraea will further commemorate the release of their new EP, Bend Your Bones, with an April 30th show at Minneapolis’ Ice House. Despite the duality and the heir of mystery surrounding both the group and their release history, the name Fraea is a deliberately chosen one for the outfit. It’s a take on Freyja, the goddess of beauty, love, sex, death, war, and the underworld.
Both this mythological influence and this overt juxtaposition have proved thematic throughout the outfit’s history and particularly with the upcoming Bend Your Bones. Fraea’s passion for storytelling and world-building is evident not only from their mythologically based name but their encyclopedic record of lyrics both melancholic and romantic. These lyrics are delicately draped across ethereal and substantial instrumentation in what is sure to curate a comprehensive and multifaceted experience for both listeners and concert goers in the near future and beyond.
