New Andy Stauf Track “The Worst In You” Premieres via Consequence of Sound Ahead of World Tour

Consequence of Sound is premiering singer-songwriter Andy Stauf’s newest track “The Worst In You” in anticipation of both a world tour and Stauf’s EP The Party, due out May 20th. The man whom The Guardian has pegged as the “Indie Burt Bacharach” blends baroque folk with sixties era pop on his newest track in an eclectic blend of authenticity and irrefutable appeal.

Originally hailing from Saskatchewan, Stauf has displayed a powerful penchant for blending this eclectic and infectious sound with his comprehensive literary background, which he is keen to utilize as the perfect accompaniment to his unique and ever-growing sound.

Speaking on the track itself, Stauf remarks “The Worst in You’ came together really late in the recording of the album. I wrote it in about ten minutes while I was stuck on another song. It’s about a guy trying to find his girlfriend at a party, and about how easy it is to jump to negative conclusions.” The track can be streamed here.

Stauf initially gained a profile outside of Western Canada with his 2015 release The Bearer of Bad News, with NPR calling it “One of 2015’s most breathtaking albums.” There was no separate category for albums recorded in their parent’s basement, but if that category came to fruition it is to be sure that Stauf would have laid great claim there as well.

Both Shauf and others are hesitant to label The Party as a concept album, but the release itself serves as a vessel for the all-too-familiar feelings of both the after-party and the ensuing morning. In regards to parties, there are countless variations on a theme, all of which seem to be emotionally load-bearing, and just about all of which seem to be deftly conveyed and analyzed throughout Stauf’s impending release.
Andy Stauf is currently playing all throughout Europe, opening for the Lumineers. Stauf is also playing a great number of worldwide shows opening for the group case/lang/veirs immediately after his time with the Lumineers. Confirmed tour dates are listed below.
