New Jersey natives, Can’t Swim, are an up and coming post-punk band to be excited about. The four piece collective signed with punk label champions Pure Noise Records in December and today have released their new EP, Death Deserves A Name.
Death Deserves A Name is an aggressive, punk inspired EP. It includes 5 tracks that offer up for the listener an intricate instrumental backing, including eccentric drum tracking and dynamic guitar work. The vocals welcome the listener into the EP and then delve into more emotional lyric movements.
Can’t Swim is an intriguing up and coming addition to the scene – and listeners should be excited for the EP, especially from a band so quickly put together, recently signed, and raring to go.
Being a NJ local, one fairly close to Keansburg, I am impressed by the dynamic emotional elements that Can’t Swim exhibits in Death Deserves A Name – something that definitely can’t count them out. From the title track “Death Deserves A Name,” which is smooth, and reminiscent of more recent punk, to a track entitled “Your Clothes,” which boasts power, prowess and that early punk fire these bands are inspired by.
We’re excited to see what else Can’t Swim can bring to the table!
