NYC based singer, Miss Velvet, has just released a single in preparation for the debut of her album, Dreams Are Not For Us, this upcoming spring.
With the album looming in the future, Miss Velvet has already been invited for a two-month residency beginning next week at NYC’s prestigious Gramercy Park Hotel. While this is Miss Velvet’s debut album, she has done a lot of work to get to this point. With early origins in a musical partnership with producer and artist, Nick Littlemore of Pnau and Empire of the Sun, the persona of Miss Velvet grew into an organic and constantly evolving project. She had this to say about her character development, “Creating this character, Miss Velvet, has allowed me to rediscover parts of myself that I had forgotten about or shut away. She keeps evolving and keeps getting deeper as the layers keep getting peeled back, and I’m looking forward to seeing how she evolves and where she takes me.”
“Cincinnati Spring,” the single released from the album, has an earthy vibe too it. Soulful and upbeat, the song exposes Miss Velvet’s talent and passion. Miss Velvet went on to say this about the album, “To me, it’s really about the whole body of work, and the idea of an album as a complete listening experience that tells a story.”
