Armor For Sleep Shows Us There Is No Awkward Last Words

Friday, September 18th was a night that many New Jerseyans have been anxiously awaiting for a long time. It was the night that Armor For Sleep would reunite after three long years in Starland Ballroom to perform What To Do When You Are Dead. Armor For Sleep, being Teaneck, NJ natives, played their last show in New Jersey back in 2012, which was at Bamboozle in Asbury Park. Fans did not know if the band would ever reunite to play one more show, let alone a show performing their most beloved album. It’s hard to believe that What To Do When You Are Dead turned 10 years old this year. From the looks of the crowd this past Friday night at Starland Ballroom, nobody forgot about them. How could you, anyway?

Being an Armor For Sleep fan since middle school, I have been waiting to hear this whole album live. It’s a classic for me, as for many others. Instead of going in the order of the album, Armor For Sleep opened up with “Awkward Last Words”, which was a great opener in my opinion. It brought the whole venue to life and everyone sang every word like they were in middle school or high school again. Classic songs like “The Truth About Heaven” and “Car Underwater” also had a huge crowd reaction, because, who doesn’t love those songs? If you missed this show, first of all I’m extremely sorry. Do not miss your chance to see this set again. They’re playing What To Do When You Are Dead a few more times before the end of the year, check out the dates below.
