All Time Low’s “Future Hearts” Album Review

Still making teen hearts beat irregular and endless fans fall in love, All Time Low is back with their sixth studio album Future Hearts. Produced by John Feldman (The Used, Good Charlotte, 5 Seconds of Summer), Future Hearts is a combination of everything All Time Low has graced us with the past decade, and very reminiscent of their earlier albums like Put Up or Shut Up. The record officially drops tomorrow April 7th, 2015, but you can listen to four tracks already released: “Something’s Gotta Give”, “Kids In The Dark”, “Runaways”, and “Tidal Waves” now on iTunes. After their two year writing binge, Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, and Zack Merrick are ready for their upcoming release and tour for one of the most pop punk anticipated albums of 2015: Future Hearts.

As a long time fan myself, All Time Low has been one of America’s favorites since the early 2000’s. Now it is 2015, and here they are with a record ready to give you everything you would not expect and it is pure brilliance. Keeping with their signature punk sound, the record features angst, love, and excitement as you jump from track to track. “Kids In The Dark” is a perfect example of an anthem of coming together and “We’ll never surrender”. So many of their songs, including this one have such an old school vibe to it, leaving us long time fans screaming for more and screaming along with ATL themselves. Then you have “Cinderblock Garden” which hooked me with the first few drum hits and then melodic vocals from Gaskarth. Close your eyes and picture yourself on a hot summer day with the windows down blaring these tunes and it is clear that All Time Low has nailed it with a perfect track for the season.

Along with Future Hearts having an incredible track list, the record also features incredible collaborations with Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) and Joel Madden (Good Charlotte). Hoppus is on the track Tidal Waves, a slower but in my own opinion perfect balance to throw in with the rest of the album. “Old Scars/Future Hearts” ends the record with the line “We’ve got old scars and future hearts but we never look back” which sums it up. ATL has been around for such a long time, they have seen it all, but this is not the last of them so keep jumping and singing to the music.

Check out Future Hearts on sale tomorrow, and All Time Low’s tour with huge names Issues and Tonight Alive that starts later this month.
